Support the South Island Primary Care Society
The South Island Primary Care Society (SIPC) is a local, community-focused organization that works to increase access to primary care in our region. They help keep clinics open, support new clinics, and help bring new family doctors and nurse practitioners to Greater Victoria.
They do essential work that directly benefits Saanich residents, and we fully support their efforts.
Current Fundraising Priority:
West Saanich Primary Care Expansion
The SIPC is currently running a fundraising campaign to enhance access to primary care in West Saanich.
Their immediate goal is to raise $125,000. This funding is essential for several key developments:
-
Supporting the transition of the society taking over the West Saanich Clinic.
-
Renovating the waiting area to increase charting space.
-
Opening up exam rooms to accommodate two new family doctors.
-
Enabling these two new doctors to attach net new patient panels.
-
Extending urgent care services to include evenings and weekends.
This initiative is a quick community win that will result in approximately 2,500 people in West Saanich gaining access to a family doctor.
Support the Shoreline Medical Society
Shoreline Medical Society is a community-based charitable organization delivering team-based primary care on the Saanich Peninsula, from Sidney to Royal Oak. Through its clinics, Shoreline’s physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary teams care for more than 16,000 patients and play a vital role in supporting the local healthcare system.
In addition to providing family medicine, Shoreline physicians also care for patients at Saanich Peninsula Hospital through the Doctor of the Day program, provide maternity care, palliative care, and long-term care to the community, and operate the region's only youth clinic.
We fully support Shoreline’s work and the important role they play in strengthening access to local primary and hospital care for our community.
Current Fundraising Priority:
Shoreline is currently fundraising to help:
-
Recruit and retain family doctors and nurse practitioners.
-
Sustain and expand the Shoreline Youth Clinic, the only provider of youth-specific primary care, mental health, sexual. health, and substance use services on the Saanich Peninsula.
-
Support physicians providing care at Saanich Peninsula Hospital.
-
Expand access to team-based primary care on the peninsula.
-
Grow clinic capacity so more patients can access care.
As a charitable non-profit, Shoreline relies on community support to help make this work possible. Donations directly support local healthcare and help strengthen a resilient community health system for the Saanich Peninsula.
